Team USA’s Olivia Blatchford Clyne is through to the second round of the El Gouna International Squash Open—a PSA World Tour Platinum event—after a three-game victory Thursday, April 18, in Egypt.
Blatchford Clyne, world No. 20, opened her second El Gouna campaign with a close three-game victory over Hong Kong’s world No. 36 Liu Tsz-Ling, 16-14, 13-11, 12-10 in thirty-four minutes.
The twenty-six-year-old from Wilton, Connecticut, will face France’s world No. 4 Camille Serme on the all-glass court Saturday, April 20. Watch the match live on SquashTV and PSA Facebook Live at 6:30pm local time, 12:30pm EDT.
U.S. teammate Amanda Sobhy is set to join the El Gouna fold with her first match on Friday, April 19. Sobhy, world No. 12 and the tournament’s thirteen seed, is set to take on England’s Emily Whitlock, who won her first-round match on Wednesday against Egypt’s Nada Abbas. A victory for Sobhy could set up a third-round clash against world No. 7 Laura Massaro on Sunday, April 21.
