Essam Recognized as USOPC Coach of the Year

Moustafa Essam, Founder and Director of Corner Squash in Brooklyn, New York, was recognized as the 2025 US Squash nominee for the United States Olympic & Paralympic Coach of the Year Award during the National Juniors awards dinner Saturday, March 14, at the Arlen Specter US Squash Center.

Since 1998, the USOPC National Coach of the Year nominee has honored the best coaches at the highest levels of the game.

Essam, an Egyptian national, started his squash career at the El Ahly Squash Club in Cairo, where he became an Egyptian junior national champion in the U13, U15, U17 and U19s.  U.S.-based coaching career as an assistant professional at the Heights Casino in Brooklyn from 2008-2013 before founding Corner Squash. At Corner Squash, Essam has produced numerous national champions throughout different age groups, including a 2026 national champion in Whit Robertson III. Essam has joined the U.S. Junior National Team coaching staff for the British Junior Open and Regional squads from 2015-2019.
