Vlassaks Honored with USOPC Developmental Coach of the Year Award

Ronny Vlassaks, Head Coach at Squash on Fire in Washington, DC, was honored as the US Squash nomination for the 2025 United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee Developmental Coach of the Year Award during the National Juniors awards dinner Saturday, March 14, at the Arlen Specter US Squash Center.

Vlassaks, a Belgium native, has more than thirty years of international coaching experience. Vlassaks served as National Coach for the Netherlands and Belgium before relocating to the United States. He has worked with the U.S. Junior National Team on the  British Junior Open coaching staff, and worked with professionals including former world Simon Rösner and Belgium’s Gilis sisters, while also serving as a World Squash Federation Ambassador. Vlassaks moved to the United States eight years ago to take one the role of Head Coach at the newly-opened Squash on Fire facility. When he first arrived, the program had four juniors, and now the program has a thriving membership, including nearly 100 juniors.

The USOPC Developmental Coach of the Year nominee is a coach of a youth club, or high school, or a coach directly responsible for coaching athletes at the junior and/or elite level.
