US Squash celebrated commitment, excellence and sportsmanship in junior squash and the remarkable resilience the community has shown through this past year during the 2021 US Squash Junior Awards Night Wednesday, May 12. To highlight the ongoing comeback of the sport from the impacts of the pandemic, the evening also featured a round table discussion of the current state of return to competition.
Two graduating seniors, Merritt Wurts and Katherine Sapinski, were honored with the 2021 DeRoy Sportsmanship Awards, which is presented to one male and one female senior who displayed exemplary on and off court behavior while competing at a high level of squash throughout their junior careers.
Class of 2021 members shared reflections images of their time in junior squash during a special slideshow. The Braff and Mollenkopf families, two of nearly 100 graduating junior squash families, shared their experiences from more than a decade spent in junior squash.
