U.S. Squash Foundation Launches Drive to LA28 Campaign

PHILADELPHIA, July 1, 2025 – The U.S. Squash Foundation launched the Drive to LA28 Campaign to provide a significant impact on Team USA Squash, the Player Development Pathway and the growth of the sport towards the LA28 Olympic Games with an event and reception at the Arlen Specter US Squash Center in Philadelphia on June 19.

The Drive to LA28 Campaign was formed as a direct result of squash’s inclusion in the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

Nearly five billion people followed the Paris 2024 Summer Olympic Games globally across all platforms, with over thirty million television viewers each day in the U.S. alone, according to the International Olympic Committee. As one of five new sports debuting at the LA28 Games, squash will be in front of the largest audience in the sport’s history, providing an unprecedented opportunity to fuel the sport’s growth.

“The launch of the Drive to LA28 Campaign is a long time coming for the sport,” said Kevin Klipstein, President and CEO, US Squash. “This campaign will serve as a catalyst for the sport’s expansion, elevate the sport to the benefit of the entire U.S. squash community and ensure American athletes are standing atop the podium for many Olympics to come.”

Initiatives funded by the Drive to LA28 Campaign will:

  • Increase the number of accessible courts
  • Expand the reach of junior programs geographically
  • Grow public high school varsity programs nationally
  • Expand the number of women’s and men’s collegiate programs at both the varsity and club levels
  • Strengthen the Player Development Pathway to provide opportunities and support for those with the talent and desire to be the best in the world
  • Provide Team USA athletes with the support and stability required for sustained excellence
  • Boost major media exposure and awareness for the sport
  • Work to ensure squash’s consistent inclusion in the Olympic Games

“The 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles is the most exciting opportunity we’ve ever had to develop the sport here in the U.S. and around the world,” said Ned Edwards, Executive Director, U.S. Squash Foundation. “The Drive to LA28 Campaign can provide US Squash the wherewithal to ensure that everything about the experience, from an innovative broadcast

presentation to the success of Team USA, is successful and then that squash continues on a roll to Brisbane 2032.”

“By the end of the LA28 Games, we want to ensure squash is known universally across the country and readily accessible for a new influx of players, the scale of which the sport has never seen before,” said Nick Kokiko, Sr. Vice President of Development, Sponsorship and Marketing, US Squash. “That work started with the launch of this campaign and will require fully coordinated and generous support by the U.S. squash community.”

“The Olympic dream is something that resonates deeply for every athlete who is in touch with their passion for sport and represents their country,” Edwards said. “The U.S. Squash Foundation can now speak to every child, no matter their background, because nothing should stand in the way of a truly impassioned squash player pursuing their dream of an Olympic podium.”

“We envision squash truly being a national sport, widely available in all geographies as a universally known and accessible activity with an increasingly diverse and integrated community sharing the common values of sportsmanship, integrity and excellence,” Klipstein said. “That is the mission of US Squash. The 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles offers the best opportunity in history to deliver on that mission.”
