Team USA’s four top-ranked PSA professionals will represent the United States at the 2017 WSF Men’s World Team Championship, November 27-December 3, in Marseille, France.
Todd Harrity (world No. 51), Chris Gordon (world No. 60), Chris Hanson (world No. 79) and Faraz Khan (world No. 83) will comprise the first U.S. team to compete in a Men’s World Team Championship since 2013.
The Ganek Family U.S. Head National Coach Paul Assaiante and former French No. 1 Thierry Lincou lead the U.S. coaching staff.
Gordon, the 2013 U.S. Champion, is the only returning member of the 2013 squad in what will be his sixth career appearance in the tournament. Harrity, currently the highest ranked U.S. male on the PSA Tour, will make his second tournament appearance in addition to 2011 after missing the 2013 tournament due to injury.
2017 S.L. Green U.S. Men’s Champion Chris Hanson and Faraz Khan, who cracked the world’s top 100 for the first time in his career last month, will both make their tournament debuts.
Following a twelfth place men’s world team in Mulhouse in 2013, Team USA returns to France as the eleven seeds in Pool F, where the U.S. joins six seeds New Zealand and twenty-two seeds South Africa.
Team USA’s highest men’s world team finish of sixth place came in 2011 in Paderborn, Germany.
Twenty-four nations are competing in the tournament with Iraq and Jamaica set to make their tournament debuts. After qualifying action across eight pools, the top two teams in each pool will progress to the last sixteen knockout stage, while the third-placed teams will play for positions 17-24.
Hosts France enter the tournament as the three seeds, England will defend their title as the two seeds and Egypt enters the tournament as the top-seeded title favorites.
