About the Job
This job is a new position. The ideal candidate will possess both excellent on court coaching and off court program administration experience. The Director of Community Squash will have primary responsibilities for:
• staffing and administering the Urban Squash Cleveland squash programming (both at the USC facility and for travel to local, regional and national events),
• staffing and administering the Cleveland Community Squash program, a US Squash Community Affiliate program, operating on the four USC courts
• staffing and administering the Cleveland Skating Club junior and adult squash program on two international courts at the Skating Club,
• building on recent momentum with coordinating clinics, lessons, camps and tournaments at an area private school that has three courts with the intention of developing a new middle school program that has a formal schedule of matches and travels annually to the Middle School Nationals in Philadelphia,
• coordinating all aspects of the Greater Cleveland Squash amateur calendar in conjunction with area pros/stakeholders (city-wide leagues, summer camps, etc.),
• fundraising for Squash in the Land PSA event and Urban Squash Cleveland annual fundraisers (in tandem with event/organization staff)
The expectation is that the Director of Community Squash will, in consultation with the other organizations, hire, mentor and manage additional squash professionals. Cleveland Skating Club and Urban Squash Cleve- land currently have no squash professionals on staff but have recently posted positions. The Director of Community Squash role comes with the exciting possibility of building a team and candidates with previous experience developing others will be looked upon favorably.
Qualifications
• Extensive network in the United States Squash community
• Extensive previous experience coaching players of all levels
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Willingness to engage and participate in the growth/success of the business in all areas
• Sound judgment and proven ability to work with juniors
• Must be willing to go through individual school training for working with minors, including separate background checks and workshops.
• Existing eligibility to work in the United States is preferable.
Compensation
Base salary of $80K with expected annual compensation of approximately $120-130K through commission and incentive based activities.

About Urban Squash Cleveland
Urban Squash Cleveland’s mission is to promote the academic success and the physical and mental health of Cleveland youth through educational and enrichment programming, training and competition in squash, and meaningful connections be- tween youth and adults in a nurturing environment. A member of the Squash and Ed-
ucation Alliance since 2012, Urban Squash Cleveland has its own four court facility on Cleveland’s near west side on the campus of Urban Community School. Urban Squash Cleveland operates a community squash program, Cleveland Community Squash, on its courts outside of regular program hours.
About Cleveland Skating Club
The Cleveland Skating Club was incorporated in 1937 and currently has over 500 mem- bers. Athletic amenities include squash courts, a fitness center, indoor and outdoor tennis courts, platform tennis courts, an indoor pool, an ice rink, and a full range of dining,
bar and banquet facilities. The Cleveland Skating Club is conveniently located between
downtown Cleveland and the eastern suburbs and within two miles of Cleveland’s major cultural center.
About Greater Cleveland Squash
Greater Cleveland Squash (formerly Northeast Ohio Squash Racquets Association) is a 501c3 non-profit organization charged with supporting and growing squash in Northeast Ohio. The Cleveland area has a well-established squash community which includes private clubs, public courts, amateur junior and adult events, the SEA-affiliated Urban Squash Cleveland organization, and professional squash events including annual PSA (Squash in the Land January Silver PSA men’s and women’s tournament) and SDA doubles events (November women’s invitational and April men’s tournament), and the Lake Erie Beacons men’s and women’s National Squash League teams. At various points in its history, Greater Cleveland Squash has focused on running amateur tournaments, fundraising for Urban Squash Cleveland, and participating in the fundraising and organization of professional events.
