Job Overview
US Squash is on a bold journey to the LA28 Olympic Games, and we are seeking an entrepreneurial, versatile, and relationship-driven Director, Development to join our dynamic development team in Philadelphia. This is a rare opportunity to make a lasting impact on the growth of squash in the U.S. and help shape the sport’s legacy on the Olympic stage.
The Director, Development will play a pivotal role in managing key donor stewardship strategies, high-impact events, and donor communications, while overseeing relationships with two volunteer Boards and one Committee. This individual will also manage a portfolio of major gift prospects, with ambitious annual fundraising goals that contribute directly to the success of the Drive to LA28 Campaign. This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment, brings a strategic approach to donor engagement, and can balance frontline fundraising with programmatic management.
Job Responsibilities
- Stewardship & Board Management
- Steward and executive management of U.S. Squash Foundation Board, US Squash Board, and Young Professionals of the U.S. Squash Foundation
- Draft and distribute monthly newsletters to top donors and Board members
- Liaise with U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Foundation on donor stewardship and donor communications
- Development Special Events:
- Lead planning and execution of 3-4 annual high-impact events for board members, top prospects, and special guests
- Manage all partnership events with U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Foundation (USOPF)
- Manage and steward patrons of US Squash Championships
- Major Gift Fundraising
- Lead cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies for portfolio of major gift prospects and donors, with a focus on securing six to seven-figure pledges
- Collaborate with senior leadership, as well as the USOPF, to develop donor strategies aligned with campaign priorities
- Support volunteer leadership in peer-to-peer fundraising efforts
- Co-manage a team, including the Sr. Manager, Development & Partnerships and Manager, Development & Communications
Recommended Skills/Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Sport Management, or a related field
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in fundraising, events, and donor relations
- Strongly preferred track record of securing major gifts
- Strong emotional intelligence and relationship management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously
- Entrepreneurial spirit with interest in networking and revenue creation
- Passion for sports is a plus
- Ability to work some evenings/weekends and travel occasionally for donor meetings and events
Location & Hours
The hybrid role is based at US Squash Headquarters at the Arlen Specter US Squash Center in Philadelphia, PA. Expectancy to work 40 hours per week within normal working hours (Mon – Fri, 9am to 5pm), as well as occasional evenings, weekends, and travel for marquee events. Schedule to be determined with Sr. VP, Development, Sponsorship and Marketing.
