The paths to the 2023 U.S. Women’s and S.L. Green U.S. Men’s Championships titles have been revealed with the release of the tournament draws. The nation’s top thirty-two men and sixteen women will compete for equal prize at the Arlen Specter US Squash Center, April 25-28, in Philadelphia.
Draws and match times are now available on the U.S. Championships tournament page. Tickets starting at $10 are available on ussquash.org.
The four top-20-ranked U.S. women unsurprisingly occupy the top four seeding positions for a second year in a row, however the 2023 draw resulted in different potential semifinals match ups. The top half of the draw could see a Sobhy sister semifinal between four-time champion Amanda and 2014 champion Sabrina.
Olivia Fiechter enters National Singles with a career high ranking of world No. 7 and occupies the second seed for the second year in a row. Two time-champion and world No. 13 Olivia Blatchford Clyne opens her quest for a third national title as the three seed with a potential semifinal against Fiechter.
The top four women could face early challenges from top college and junior players including former and current junior champions Marina Stefanoni and Caroline Fouts, and U.S. Junior Open champion Lucie Stefanoni.
World No. 46 Timmy Brownell opens up his title defense as the men’s three seed in the bottom half of the draw with a potential quarterfinal against 2013 champion Chris Gordon and semifinal against three-time champion Todd Harrity.
World No. 35 Shahjahan Khan leads the draw as the top seed in search of his maiden men’s national title and could face a difficult semifinal match up against either four seed Faraz Khan or five seed and two-time finalist Andrew Douglas.
Top junior and college players aiming to disrupt the top seeds include Hollis Robertson, Thomas Rosini, Dillon Huang and Avi Agarwal.
