Yale Club of New York City Seeks Part-Time Assistant Squash Professional

Position Overview:
The Assistant Squash Pro assists in organizing and directing all club squash activities, events, exhibitions, tournaments, bookings and lessons per direction of the Head Squash Professional. This position plays a key role in the retention of the Club’s athletic membership package.

Essential Functions:

  • Organize, administer and officiate at Squash tournaments, exhibitions and in-house Club events.
  • Assist in the organization and running of major Club tournaments (Club Championship and Member/Guest)
  • Ensure that all members and their guests receive courteous, prompt and professional attention to all their needs.
  • Provide lessons for members related to the techniques and strategies of squash singles.
  • Must be available for Clinic coaching per the schedule of the Head Squash Professional.
  • Assist Head Squash Professional to oversee the weekend Junior Clinics and ensure group contact lists are up to date.
  • Work with Head Squash Professional to ensure that racquet lockers are assigned, maintained and billed correctly.
  • Be visible in the Pro Shop and become familiar with Pro Shop and Gift Shop items.
  • Assist with retail sales and NorthStar billing for items, court charges and lesson fees.
  • Monitor condition of the squash courts ensuring playability.
  • Greet all members warmly, enthusiastically, and by name (smiling, eye contact), maintaining an atmosphere that motivates long-term participation and member retention
  • Additional tasks as assigned by the Head Squash Professional and the Fitness and Wellness Director.

Education and Experience:

  • Strong playing background with 4 years of collegiate squash preferred. PSA exposure a plus.
  • Must have US Squash Level 1 (or higher) coaching certification
  • Must be available for a Friday, Saturday and Sunday schedule
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • CPR/AED certification preferred.
  • Possess honesty and personal integrity

Other Requirements:

  • Demonstrate knowledge and excellence in teaching squash singles.
  • Excellent organizational, time management and communication skills.
  • Maintain a close working relationship with other club professionals.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Google platforms & ability to learn NorthStar & US Squash systems.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge on how to troubleshoot or work with IT to quickly fix and maintain online booking site, email accounts, Pro Shop computers and booking display screens.
  • Work with Head Squash Professional to maintain and update squash email lists, assist with “Find A Game” duties.
  • Inspect and maintain cleanliness, organization, safety and repair throughout the squash court areas and Pro Shop
  • Professional demeanor & appearance, respectful, and professional interactions with members, guests and all staff.
