One of the most impactful people in U.S. squash history, Gail Ramsay has been a leader as a player, coach and administrator. Growing up at the Cynwyd Club in Philadelphia, Ramsay was the first person to win the National Intercollegiate Individuals four times. In the 1980s she worked as a teaching pro in New York and was a top player, reaching the quarters or better at the National Singles twelve times (including three finals), capturing three National Doubles and seven National Mixed Doubles titles, and twice playing for Team USA at the Women’s World Teams. She coached the women’s team at Williams from 1988 to 1994 and at Princeton from 1994 to the present, leading the Tigers to five national team titles. She has served many years as president of the Women’s College Squash Association, and in 1995 she was inducted into the inaugural class of the College Squash Association Hall of Fame. In 2017 US Squash awarded Ramsay the Achievement Bowl for notable and profound contributions to the advancement of the women’s game.
